Village Hall Social – Friday 21st July, 5.30pm-8pm

Our Highway Cello event has had to be postponed, but since we had already started to make plans, please come along to the village hall for a social evening instead. There will be a wide range of second hand books to browse and buy, drinks and nibbles served from the pop-up kitchen bar (we now take card payments!), atmosphere and conversation. The main aim
is simply a village social evening, and everyone is welcome.

Entry is free.

We especially extend the invite to families and those who might be new to Ebberston. Please do come along to say Hello. We always need and appreciate your support at all our events, especially the ones we’ve had to improvise at the last minute!

Highway Cello. Ebberston Village Hall, 22nd September

Last year, Kenneth Wilson strapped his cello to the back of his bike and cycled from Hadrian’s wall to Rome, stopping off and playing every day at formal concerts, street corners, churches, homes, offices, even balconies. You may have seen his story on BBC Breakfast and on last week’s BBC evening news.

Kenneth has written a book about his experiences and as part of his book launch, is coming to Ebberston Village Hall for an evening of story-telling and musical performance. 22nd Sept, 7.15pm.

Tickets £10 and can be purchased in advance from Judith Winters (01723 859730 – info@ebberston.net). Our pop-up bar (card payments accepted) will also be open alongside a fundraising raffle with all proceeds going to Ebberston Village Hall (Reg’d Charity 523346).

Coronation of Charles III at Ebberston

The village hall committee hosted an afternoon tea to mark the occasion of the King’s Coronation. Timing couldn’t have been better as we finally also managed to erect our wonderful village mosaic in time for the celebrations. We were also treated to a wildflower walk on the Bank Holiday Monday by village resident Paul who shared his knowledge generously. The walk was well attended and it was lovely to see the community spirit in the chat afterwards over tea and cake.

Review: Tamar and Jo’s Sync or Swim at @Ebberston Village Hall @RuralArts

Tamar & Jo, synchronised-swimmer athletes wowed Ebberston in April with their agility and finesse as they transported us to our favourite northern seaside town! What a great evening of silly, seaside-themed entertainment.

Some quotes from audience

Sync or Swim @Ebberston Village Hall with @RuralArts

Our next Rural Arts event on 27 April at the village hall will be with Tamar & Jo who will bring their unique brand of dance-comedy to Ebberston with their ⛱ seaside-meets-synchronised-swimming themed duet Sync or Swim.

Suitable for all ages, the show is brought to us via Rural Arts rural touring scheme. After some seaside bingo (silly prizes!) in the first half, we will follow two synchronised swimmers 🏊 as they spend a bizarre day at the seaside in a tightly choreographed routine.

The piece started life as part of the company’s Doorstep Dances project, which took over 600 5-minute performances to doorsteps, streets and public spaces across Hull during the pandemic.

🎟️ Tickets are £10. You can book your tickets on the door at the village breakfast (Saturday 25 March), or online here https://www.ruralarts.org/…/sync-or-swim-ebberston…/

We will run our pop-up bar 🍷 again on the evening (from 6.45pm) and all profits from the evening will go to Ebberston Village Hall (Reg. Charity 523346).

An evening of blues with Howlin’ Mat

Our next music event at the village hall is an evening of blues with Howlin’ Mat on Friday 3rd February 2023 at 7.15pm.

🎶

Mat Partner is a blues singer, guitarist 🎸and storyteller who follows in the footsteps of his musical heroes such as Mississippi Fred McDowell and Muddy Waters. He is never short of a story and his escapades include him opening for the Happy Mondays, and spending an evening with Led Zeppelin legend John Paul Jones on an island 130 miles inside the Arctic Circle! An entertaining evening is guaranteed.

🎶

Tickets are £10 in advance (Available via 01723 859730 / 80 Main St in the village). We will run our pop-up bar again (cash only 💵) on the evening. All proceeds to Ebberston Village Hall (Reg. Charity 523346).

Book early as we expect this to be a popular event and space is limited.
